Bestwig, junction 20
This family-friendly circular tour leads from Bestwig along a former railroad line, known as the "Bähnchen", via Heringhausen to Ramsbeck. In earlier times, the ore that was mined in the Ramsbeck mine was transported to Bestwig on this route. A ride on the original mine train into the Sauerland visitor mine is a special experience. A real miner explains the history of ore mining in Ramsbeck 300 m below ground.
The cycle tour continues through the Valmetal valley to Bödefeld, then via Westernbödefeld to Remblinghausen. The tour now leads to the Hennesee vacation village in Mielinghausen and then along the eastern shore of the Hennesee. Of course, you can also enjoy the "lake route" in complete relaxation on the deck of the MS Hennesee. Bicycles are transported free of charge.
From the Hennedamm, the route continues to Meschede. From here, the route follows the RuhrtalRadweg. In Velmede, benches along the renaturalized Ruhr invite you to linger. Then it is only a short distance to the finish point in Bestwig.
